PECK, DEREK TADASHI TAKEUCHI, AND BILLIE JEAN EASLEY-VALENZANO.![]() HOLLYWOOD, CA, USA, July 31, 2023 - SHINE ON HOLLYWOOD MAGAZINE (SOHM) CELEBRATES ITS SPECIAL FAREWELL ISSUE FEATURING OUR COVER STORY PAYING TRIBUTE TO AIDA TAKLA-O’REILLY, BARBARA MORRISON, JUDY TENUTA, MILT LARSEN, TONY BENNETT AND CELEBRITIES & FAMOUS PEOPLE WHO DIED IN 2021 – 2023. PLUS SOHM MOURNS THE LOSS OF THESE LONG-TIME SOHM TEAM MEMBERS: JOHN L. SEITZ, RON C. PECK, DEREK TADASHI TAKEUCHI, AND BILLIE JEAN EASLEY-VALENZANO CELEBRATING A DECADE OF REAL PEOPLE AND THEIR REAL STORIES. This special farewell issue's cover feature focuses on Aida Takla-O’Reilly. She was a teacher, a journalist, a mentor, the youngest female pilot in Egypt at the age of 16, a leader, a mother, and a friend. In 2011, she was re-elected to serve a second term as the president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (“HFPA”) overseeing the global telecast of the Golden Globe Awards, the precursor to the Emmy and Academy Awards ceremonies. The HFPA, once again, chose this hard-working, talented, and passionate orator who was uniquely equipped to lead this colorful group. A member of the HFPA since 1956, she represented Dubai and was previously the organization’s president from 1994 through 1996. Takla-O’Reilly’s second term ended in 2013 and she went on to serve as a HFPA Trustee and Advisor to the President. Also in this issue, we lost a legendary jazz singer Barbara Morrison who inspired countless audiences with her talent. She grew up in the Detroit suburbs. Her father was a doo-wop singer, and she sang throughout her young years. She moved to Los Angeles in 1971 at age 21 and worked with blues great Eddie “Cleanhead” Vinson with performances on “The Johnny Otis Show.”She appeared on dozens of albums including her own and as a guest vocalist. Her albums included “I Know How to Do It” (1996) and “Visit Me” (1999). She sought to give back to the community by collaborating to open the Barbara Morrison Performing Arts Center in the Leimert Park neighborhood in Los Angeles, where she and local artists performed. She also went on to open the California Jazz & Blues Museum, which featured concert posters, instruments, and paintings by local artists. We also lost a woman known to fans as "The Love Goddess" and "Aphrodite of the Accordion," comedienne Judy Tenuta, who has passed away in her home in Studio City. One of nine siblings, Judy (after Judy Garland), was born in Oak Park, Illinois (a suburb of Chicago), on November 7, 1949, into a Catholic family to a Polish mother, Johanna, and an Italian father, Caesar. She grew up in a staunchly Irish-Catholic neighborhood and attended the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she majored in theater. A straight-A student her entire life, Judy was the first of the Tenuta family to graduate college. Her interest in comedy began when she took an improv comedy class with the world-famous Chicago improv group The Second City and shortly after began opening for other comedians in Chicago throughout the 70s. Recently, the world lost one of the foremost magicians and illusionists with the death of Milt Larsen at the age of 92. In 2000, Milt was voted one of the 100 most influential individuals in the history of magic. His long and storied career included owning the world-famous Magic Castle in Hollywood, receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, writer for the TV shows Truth or Consequences and This Is Your Life. He worked with show business legends Milton Berle, Bob Hope, Buddy Ebsen and Steve Allen, Buster Keaton, Stan Laurel, George Burns, and Jack Benny, among others. He was also considered the world’s foremost historian of the Vaudeville era. His impressive resume included being a long-time radio host and producing TV specials for ABC, CBS, and NBC. He was the creator and consultant for the $50 Million Caesars Magic Empire at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. In addition, SOHM mourns the loss of these long-time team members: John L. Seitz was a Senior Writer for SOHM for 3 years. Beloved by many, John was a modern-day version of “The Great Gatsby.” He threw lavish parties annually in his Bel Air home overlooking the Getty Museum. He loved entertaining with musicians and befriended all kinds of eclectic people. John was a kind soul with a quick wit and he could catch you off guard with unusually interesting and funny stories that only Hollywood insiders could know. He was also very kind and compassionate and helped others where he could. For several years, he was involved in public relations with the Hilton Hotels and worked with many Hollywood celebrities and even past U.S. Presidents. He also was the previous owner of the local publication the Beverly Hills Courier. Under Shine On movement, Ron C. Peck was the Executive Researcher and Production Coordinator story for the critically acclaimed "Humania" Documentary focusing on homelessness and mental health crisis. As Ron described it, he led an inspired life of curiosity and learning that was touched and nourished by many people. As a young boy, he was an amateur radio operator. By high school, he was the emergency radio operator for the Kenosha Police and Fire Departments. As a young man in the Army, he served overseas during the Berlin Wall conflict stationed on NATO radio sites. Later in life and for over 30 years, he traveled the world building nuclear medicine clinics. He was a devoted husband to his wife Carol Peck for 55 years and a loving father to their three children, Tonya, Tara, and RC. His passion for the martial arts and helping others led him to form a close friendship with Olympic Judo coach, Willy Cahill, with whom he co-founded the Blind Judo Foundation. For 17 years, while Willy took care of business “on the mat,” Ron worked at the Foundation daily to secure funding and support blind and visually impaired athletes so that they could compete at the very top of their sport. Derek Tadashi Takeuchi was SOHM West Coast Digital Marketing Solution Manager on and off for 8 years and a C.E.O. of Takeuchi Galleries, an International Art Dealer, with over 30 years in the Art Business. He was a filmmaker, special events producer, and branding expert Takeuchi Galleries Art. Derek loved life and his greatest goal after generating commerce through the business world and trade was to simply help others -- that was his greatest motivation to succeed. He felt wealth is not a success, however, money is a required tool to achieve objectives. He gave his time to personally encourage and help others to believe in themselves, assisting them in learning new skills and most importantly understanding what it is to have faith and share with them that God loves them. He felt that there is no greater accomplishment than helping someone “ignite” the greatness within themselves especially when they did not believe they could ever accomplish their life’s goals. He was mentored by the founder of SOHM, Arnold Garcia for 8 years. Billie Jean Easley-Valenzano passed unexpectedly and went home to heaven on April 17, 2023. She was the Fashion, Public Relations, and Digital Media Supervisor for Shine On Hollywood Magazine on and off for 6 years. She earned a Master’s in Business Communications from California North-ridge University and demonstrated excellence in virtually every facet of the entertainment field while focusing her talents on journalism: she was employed at numerous crème de la crème entertainment magazines as a writer/ editor; she excelled as an editor and producer; and she led television, film, and commercial development for Mark Alyn Productions. In 2017, she founded Beverly Hills Fashion Society focusing on fashion, film, and finance opportunities. BHFS’s mission was to strengthen the impact of global fashion and arts. Plus, various videos of Celebrities & Famous People Who Died in 2021 – 2023 and the world lost one of the last great entertainers with the death of Tony Bennett. The upcoming 11th Anniversary issue of Shine On Hollywood Magazine will feature the Daytime Emmy Awards 2022, (the 2023 Emmys are canceled due to the current writer's strike) presented by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, honoring the best in U.S. daytime television programming in 2021. ![]() This month we bring you Amber Patiño and her family. We first introduced Amber back in November of 2015, when she was barely starting out in the industry, with the support of her parents and her special needs sister, Nicole. Since then, Amber hasn’t wavered from pursuing her dreams and continues to strive, bringing back hard-earned advice and tips for young actors that want to take a shot at the entertainment industry. Don’t miss her advice. In that November 2015 issue, SOHM also focused on Amber’s family, who plays a very important supporting role in her nascent talents, and has formed a circle around her called, Team Amber, to guide and motivate the young artist to her full potential. Experienced and aware beyond her years, Amber acknowledges the time and effort given by her friends and family. Now, Amber shares her achievement to date: landing a leading role in the family film titled, Jurassic School. It hasn’t been easy for the Patiño family. The four members left the south and headed west to give Amber’s talents a chance, after winning a prominent talent contest. Amber’s skills shined through and the family made the journey across, to find out if dreams do come true. This is where we catch up with the Patiños, and bring to you, our loyal readers, a rare behind-the-scene look at Hollywood, and the business of child stars—and its effect on the family as a unit. Amber’s mother, Lindsay Patiño, supports Amber 100% on artistic talents. While her father, William "Bill" Patiño, knows first hand the sacrifices parents make for their children in support of their dreams and aspirations. William left a comfortable life, with a lower cost of living, to help his daughter as best as he can. Yet, reality reminds them that following dreams takes time, money and effort. We interview Bill and get his take on how the move to Hollywood has affected his family because SOHM is committed to bringing you real stories from real people—in this case, the role of parents and their children.

![]() In our October/November 2015 “The Youth Issue", Shine On Hollywood Magazine explores the talents of 3 young women of diverse and inspiring backgrounds. In so doing, we are reminded of the true meaning of their stories in its relation to our daily lives. Our front cover this month is devoted to Hannah Fraser, a ”living Mermaid”, that has fascinated audiences with her ability to immerse herself in the role of a sea creature we can all recognize. Her devotion to acrobatic performances around the world has delighted many. Most importantly however, Hannah Mermaid's strong association and advocacy for the plight of her ocean “friends”, has earned respect by those seeking to make the public aware of the wanton demise of the ocean habitat. While all of our stories this month revolve around the uplifting testimonials that offer us motivation, we can also appreciate those seeking recognition in an industry with tremendous trials in order to be appreciated. The entertainment business has winners and losers and many times the hard work and talent of those seeking gainful employment can become a lesson in futility. ![]() We've encountered a youngster, Amber Patiño , that has so many attributes at only 12 years of age, there's no wonder she will become a voice that will be heard around the world, in the not so distant future. Amber has been blessed by an accumulation of talent that is truly awe inspiring! A striving actress, a fashion designer, a singer and a painter are just a few of the professions she has been known to excel in at such a young age. Amber's mother has allowed her to blossom, as she is fully aware of her capacity to influence those affected by incongruous circumstances. ![]() Our last story this month is Miss New York World crown winner, Katherine Cooksey. Katherine has had it rough over the years as she was born with an incurable visual disability and a speech impediment. Even though this condition is considered an obstacle for many, Katherine has risen to the occasion by her steadfast devotion and conviction to assist others by her active involvement in the American Association of People with Disabilities. A natural beauty, she has devoted her time in helping youngsters with afflictions that are similar and much more consequential. Her message to children, is that one can overcome hindrances that are physical in nature by the force of personality and the substance of one's character. All 3 of our choices for this month's issue, have provided a springboard for us to look beyond the trials many of us face today. They have offered a brief glimpse of their roles and their plans, to live their lives with purpose. We hope you will embrace their stories with your family and friends. We encourage you to “let them be your motivation.” SOHM remains a politics and gossip free publication with its focus on, Real People, Real Stories, from the Arts and Pop Culture Community who make a difference by giving back, and we are delighted to share their heart-felt stories with you. We will continue to provide the industry's foremost creative meeting place with monthly showcases, news, opinions, analysis, and audience feedback. The upcoming December issue will feature an emphasis on “Top Men Industry Professionals” and as we attend the dazzling holiday parties and dinners here in Tinseltown, I want to pause and give thanks to all the good fortune we have here. From time to time, I am stopped on the street by a passerby who recognizes me from SOHM. They often tell me how much they enjoy the articles and how they appreciate the uplifting stories we share from Hollywood which avoids all the gossip and politics. These interactions, in turn, uplift me and make me so grateful for all our loyal fan base so, from the bottom of my heart, THANK-YOU! You will be missed my love. R.I.P. ~Arnold Garcia, Fonder and Publisher of Shine On Hollywood Magazine ![]() Shine On Hollywood Magazine exceeds 17 million global clicks, and asks for pay-it-forward contributions for its formerly free digital publication, to succeed in spreading positive messages from Hollywood to the globe. August 12, 2014-Hollywood, CA- Shine On Hollywood Magazine (SOHM) shares stories of triumph and success in the entertainment industry, and after releasing two years of free digital issues, the founder and publisher Arnold Garcia is asking for contributions. When asked why, Garcia has several reasons. On it’s two-year anniversary, SOHM has grown globally. Europe, Asia and Latin America have according to views, become addicted to SOHM. There are over 130,000 likes on Facebook, and when Hollywood magazine is searched for on the Internet, SOHM is in the top three hits. To further this momentum funds are now vital to the company. There are also future plans. There will be an interactive webcast with celebrities, the discovery of global talent, translation into different languages, and interviews with high-end celebrities. All plans need funding. Money is needed to give hope to the undiscovered, to allow celebrities to share their experience to the audience, and to tell the public that Hollywood is not about negativity, he says. Sharing to Garcia means giving and receiving talent between each party. He says that it is what the real Hollywood should be about. To Garcia, sharing also means putting out endless hours to create a spark not often seen in Hollywood magazines, the human touch, the passion that commonality exists, and that any individual can thrive and succeed in life. Garcia wants to always show how talent can give back to the community through experience, teaching, and sharing stories of achievement. He passionately believes that for the public to share by contribution is to also feel that human touch. Quick Facts
“Instead of taking the easy road, you [Garcia] took the road less traveled and demonstrated how magnificently real people rise and shine. You set the standard for what journalism is all about.”~Aida Takla-O’Reilly, Two-time President and Current Trustee of The Hollywood Foreign Press “You are inspiring the future leaders of this world to shine on brighter and brighter every day. Here's to your continued success and bright future.” ~Cao Yong, Legendary World-renowned Artist “SOHM has improved the world views of the industry in every area imaginable. Exciting ways to share stories of success, with new approaches to social media. The ability to give a voice to the unheard. It's not just about entertainment, it’s a positive way to embrace life.” ~Arnold Garcia, Founder / Publisher of Shine On Hollywood Magazine Related Products Backgrounder: http://shineonhollywoodmagazine.com/shinejulyaugust2014/web/flipviewerxpress.html Donation: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=XJ6V93USFUY3A Associated Links http://shineonhollywoodmagazine.com/shinejuly2013/web/flipviewerxpress.html http://shineonhollywoodmagazine.com/shinejulyaugust2014/web/flipviewerxpress.html?pn=16 http://shineonhollywoodmagazine.com/shinejulyaugust2014/web/flipviewerxpress.html?pn=22 https://www.youtube.com/v/bHteBWaUTvU https://www.youtube.com/v/MBl5xL9VHbw Contact Alex Antonino 323-426-9472 [email protected] www.shineonhollywoodmagazine.com As you may already know, Shine On Hollywood Magazine is an up-and-coming eMagazine with a rapidly growing viewership.
